In an increasingly globalized world, exchanges between continents are not rare. In light of this, we are all exposed to many different cultural practices.
Third culture is what is being made today in the world salad bowl. However it is not the same as the concept of “Melting pot”. This concept arose in the USA at the beginning of the century when writer and political activist Zangwill first referred to it. Melting pot is to assimilation what third culture is to crowd-sourcing. In this way, third culture is more a movement of creating something new from the exposure of two different cultures.
In Culture times 3, my goal is to elucidate the different ways third culture is filtering into our world by presenting the links it has to the globalization issues such global technologies, music or cultures… To reflect the multiple ways third culture is apparent, I will use varied forms of media such as videos, pictures and short creative non-fiction stories accompanied by pertinent cultural analysis.
